CEO of Russia’s Lukoil denies media reports of stake sale plans

MOSCOW, Oct 28 (PRIME) -- CEO and co-owner of Russian oil company Lukoil Vagit Alekperov denied on Monday media statements that Surgutneftegas could buy a stake in it.

“Neither I, nor any of the company’s executives have an intention to sell their stakes in Lukoil,” Alekperov said. “I have always said that I see the shares of this company as the most efficient investment. Lukoil has long-term plans, our strategy is aimed at constant growth of shareholder value.”

Alekperov also said that he had not received proposals to sell the stake in the last few weeks.

Magazine Neftegazovaya Vertikal reported on October 25 that Surgutneftegas planned to buy a stake in Lukoil, primarily from Alekperov.
